Five athletes and five teams who made an impact on the local preps scene this past week:

Five athletes

Sam Holt, Mountain View baseball: The Mountain Lions sophomore shut down Loveland on Saturday at Greg Brock Field as Mountain View defeated the Red Wolves for the first time since 2018, snapping a five-game losing streak in the series.

In the 8-1 victory, Holt allowed one run on six hits, struck out six and walked two in seven innings. He helped himself at the plate as well with a hit and an RBI.

Brynn Torres, Loveland track and field: The Red Wolves freshman won the 3,200 meters and finished third in the 1,600 at the Pomona Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood.

Torres took first in the 3,200 in a time of 10 minutes, 53.29 seconds, four seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She ran the 1,600 in 5:08.13, just .01 behind the second-place finisher and three seconds behind the winner.

Madeline Clark: Mountain View track and field: The Mountain Lions senior continued her record-setting season Saturday at the Pomona Invitational.

Clark won the 800 meters in a meet-record time of 2:09.3, three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. It was the second-fastest time in the state this season behind the 2:08.99 she ran at the Max Marr Invitational on March 7.

Makenna Bruno, Loveland soccer: The Red Wolves junior scored three goals and had four assists in Loveland’s 9-1 victory over Greeley West on Thursday.

Bruno’s hat trick gives her 15 goals and her 10 points this season. She leads Class 5A in both categories and is tied for third with teammate Abigail Machado in 5A with eight assists.

Alex Patricelli, Loveland swimming: The Red Wolves senior finished second out of 156 swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle and fifth out of 38 swimmers in the 100 butterfly at the Hawk Swimming and Diving Invite on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton.

Patricelli was 1.01 seconds behind the winner in the 50 freestyle in a time of 21.75 which was the seventh-fastest time in Class 4A this season. His time in the butterfly of 54.64 was 0.64 behind the third-place finisher and was the 12th-fastest time in 4A this season.

Five teams

Loveland Classical girls soccer: The Lions won a pair of games last week by a combined score of 20-0 to extend their winning streak to four.

On Monday, LCS shut out Bruce Randolph 10-0. Two days later, on Wednesday, the Lions blanked STEM School Highlands Ranch 10-0. Against Bruce Randolph, Abby Ruppert scored three goals while Kaelyn Doan and Katherine Beilby each had two. Against STEM Highlands Ranch, Ruppert had four goals while Rosella Krier had two.

Berthoud boys track and field: The Spartans won the Grizzly Invitational on Friday in Greeley with 115 points, 39 more than second-place Poudre.

Berthoud got first-place finishes from Aidan Malherbe in the 400 (50.62), Samuel Whitaker in the discus (148 feet, 4 inches) and Jayce Newbill in the long jump (20-10) and second-place finishes from Rhys Sattler in the 100 (11.45), the 4×200 relay (1:32.48), Eric Mellott in the 1,600 (4:49.53), Benjamin Clopper in the 800 (2:02.79) and the 4×400 relay (3:37.53).

Resurrection Christian girls golf: The Cougars finished second at a pair of events last week and have finished in the top three in all six of their tournaments this season.

Monday at the Erie Cocoa Classic at Lake Valley Golf Club, RCS shot a 324 to finish nine strokes behind first-place Timnath and one ahead of third-place Valor Christian. Addy Moreno was eighth individually for the Cougars with a 78. Wednesday at the Loveland Invite at the Olde Course, the Cougars shot a 243, 16 strokes behind first-place Legend and one ahead of third-place Fossil Ridge. Moreno tied for second individually with a 77.

Thompson Valley girls soccer: The Eagles went 2-0-1 last week, extending their streak of games without a loss to six and improving to 4-2-3 overall and 3-0 in the 4A/3A Longs Peak League.

Thompson Valley defeated Berthoud 3-0 on Tuesday and Greeley Central 4-0 on Thursday before playing to a 2-2 draw against Windsor on Saturday. Against the Spartans, Jesika Hopkins, Riley Darcy and Elena Montoya scored for the Eagles. Hopkins, Montoya, Briana Vargas Gonzales and Ellen Harting scored for Thompson Valley against Greeley Central.

Loveland boys track and field: The Red Wolves finished third at the Pomona Invitational on Saturday at Jeffco Stadium with 50 points, .5 behind second-place Fort Collins and 10 behind first-place Roosevelt.

Individually for the Red Wolves, Jackson Conroy set a meet record in the 110 hurdles with a winning time of 13.54, the fastest in the state this season. Thrower Ashton Daly won the boys discus with a throw of 159 feet, 10 inches. He also finished second in the shot put with a heave of 52-8. The Red Wolves finished third in the 4×400 relay (3:29.03).
