Five athletes and five teams who made an impact on the local preps scene this past week:

Five athletes

Norah Patella, Loveland soccer: The Red Wolves junior captain recorded a hat trick in Loveland’s 8-0 victory over Mountain View on Saturday at the TSD soccer field at Mountain View.

Patella scored her first two goals in the first 40 minutes and her third in the second half. She now has five on the season after also scoring one in the Red Wolves’ 3-2 victory over Brighton on Thursday. The win over Mountain View was Loveland’s fourth of the season, surpassing the three wins the Red Wolves had all of last year.

Madeline Clark, Mountain View track and field: The Mountain Lions senior broke her fourth school record of the season Saturday at the Altitude Invitational in Timnath.

After already setting new records in the 200, 400 and 800 meters this season, she set a new mark, and a meet record, with a victory in the 1,600 on Saturday in a time of 4 minutes, 54.85 seconds. It was the fifth fastest time in Class 4A this season. She also has the fastest time in the state in the 800 (2:08.99), the sixth fastest time in 4A in the 400 (57.03) and the ninth fastest time in 4A in the 200 (25.63).

Ashton Daly, Loveland track and field: The Red Wolves junior continued his dominance in the throws Saturday at the Altitude Invitational, winning both the discus and the shot put.

Daly threw the discus a season best 159 feet, 6 inches, winning the event by more than eight feet. It was the farthest throw in Class 5A this season. He heaved the shot put 52-1.75 to win by a foot. His throw of 55-11.75 at the Broomfield Shootout is still the best in 5A this year. Loveland finished third as a team Saturday in Timnath with 55.5 points.

Nathaniel Chou, Thompson Valley diving: The Eagles sophomore finished third at the Mountain View April Fools Invite on Saturday at the Mountain View Aquatic Center.

Chou scored a 398.3 in the 11-dive format, 24 points behind the second-place finisher and 34 behind the winner, Noah Abraham of Windsor. Chou’s score was well over the state qualifying score of 270 in Class 4A and is the seventh highest score in 4A this season.

Anna Bagley, Berthoud track and field: The Spartans junior won the 3,200 meters at the Altitude Invitational on Saturday.

Bagley finished the race in 11:27.77, more than 10 seconds ahead of her teammate Lydia Cabrera. A podium finisher at the 3A state meet in the event last season, Bagley’s time Saturday was the fourth-fastest in 3A this season.

Five teams

Thompson Valley boys track and field: The Eagles finished sixth at the Altitude Invitational on Saturday with 48 points led by a pair of event winners in Zack Bakker (pole vault) and Antheney Herre (1,600).
