Community Drum Circle
Community Drum Circle Celebrating Earth Day will take place at 2:30-4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at River’s Edge Natural Area, 960 W. First St.
Members of Djembe Jive will perform at River’s Edge amphitheater in a free program featuring drumming, a community drum circle, storytelling and audience participation.
Bring your drum if you have one. Small percussion instruments will be available for anyone who attends who would like to join in. Chairs are allowed up on the upper sidewalk and surrounding area.
Drop in any time; registration is appreciated but not required.

Nature Walk
Loveland Open Lands and Trails will offer a program on Nature Adapts to a Changing World at 9-10 a.m. Monday, April 20, at Namaqua Park, 730 N. County Road 19E.
Join an interpretive naturalist guide for a one-hour, one-mile walk on gravel trails to seek evidence of how animals and other aspects of nature adapt to our changing world. The focus of the walk will be on osprey and elk populations, with other natural elements, and how they can inspire us as our world changes.
The walk also will focus on Namaqua Park and the events, natural and human, that have occurred over decades of the site’s history.
Dress for the weather, and bring water and sun protection. Binoculars will come in handy for watching the osprey fly and feed.

River’s Edge Program
Loveland Open Lands and Trails will offer a program on Have You Been to River’s Edge? Getting Into Nature Without Going Far at 1-2:15 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at River’s Edge Natural Area, 960 W. First St.
Join an interpretive naturalist guide for an introduction to local natural areas you can enjoy for free. The program will include an informational walk through River’s Edge, as the guide points out native plants and signs of wildlife to highlight the biodiversity present. Prime fishing and birding locations will also be shared, and there will be time for questions along the way.
Prepare for the weather (appropriate clothing, sun protection, good walking shoes, and water). Park in the main River’s Edge parking lot via the entrance nearest the river bridge, and meet at the picnic shelters east of the parking lot, by the green Open Lands flag.

BERTHOUD
Preservation Program
The Berthoud Historical Society April Speaker Series will feature Anne Best Johnson, Community Development Director for the town of Berthoud in a discussion about the future of preservation in the community at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Berthoud Recreation Center – Community Room, 1000 Berthoud Parkway.
Johnson will present the town’s new Historic Preservation Master Plan, outlining its goals and action steps, and will also share a preview of Berthoud’s upcoming walking tour — a new way to experience the town’s rich history.
The talk is free to attend; donations will be accepted.

Raptor Photo Contest
The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program is seeking photos of raptors for its annual Calendar Photo Contest.
Submissions are open through June 1. Photos can be of any raptor, not just raptors found in the United States.
Photos of nests and AI imagery will not be accepted.
Cost is $35 for the first photo and $5 each for additional photos, and proceeds will benefit the nonprofit that helps injured raptors.

Rams Talk
The Ram Talk Series at Colorado State University will focus on “Preserving Colorado’s Agricultural History One Story at a Time” at 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Fort Collins Welcome Center, 7 Old Town Square Suite 100.
Dr. Leisl Carr Childers, associate professor of history at Colorado State University, Tami Eggers, Routt County 4-H Specialist;, and Jacie Rex, Douglas County 4-H Specialist and CSU history alum, will present the program.
The Art of Ranching (AOR) is a collaborative project that brings together 4‑H youths and community members to uncover and share the rich history of Colorado agriculture through local stories, hands-on research and intergenerational conversations.

Jazz Festival
The University of Northern Colorado/Greeley Jazz Festival will be held Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25.The event brings together internationally recognized artists, jazz lovers, award-winning clinicians and over 200 college, high school, and middle school big bands, combos and jazz vocal groups from across the country.
The main stage lineup includes: Alicia Olatuja & David Rosenthal and Walter Smith III & Skylar Tang with the Compass Jazz Orchestra at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23; The Alfredo Rodriguez Quintet and The Compass Jazz Orchestra and special guest Victor Wooten at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 24; and Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton & Larry Fuller and The Zaremba Jazz Fellowship with Wayne Bergeron at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25.
The event also includes main stage concerts, after-hours sessions, daytime performances, and educational workshops at several campus venues.
