RepRap Festival

Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival returns to Loveland at 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at the Pedersen Toyota Center at The Ranch Events Center, 5280 Arena Circle.

The Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival provides an open environment where industry leaders and individual makers stand side by side to showcase unique builds. The floor features 36,000 square feet of innovation, ranging from experimental prototypes to award winning functional designs.

Features this year will include LaserSterling’s newly rebodied Lamborghini Aventador, a full size, newly rebodied 3D-printed supercar; BotRumble Combat Robotics with fairyweight combat robots clashing in an enclosed arena; the 3DPN Ultimate Additive Quiz Show at 3 p.m. Saturday when Joel Telling, known as the 3d Printing Nerd, will host a battle of technical wits and​ entertainment on the Maker Stage; and Silverfox Foam Flinger Range where visitors can test fire high performance, hobby grade 3D-printed blasters.

Escort of Heroes

The High Plains Honor Flight Escort of Heroes will give the 120  veterans heading to Washington, D.C., a send-off at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 19, at the McKee 4-H Building at The Ranch, 5260 Arena Circle.

Honor Flights take war veterans to see the monuments in their honor to show them appreciation and make sure they have a welcome home that many never received.

‘Centennial’ Talk

Perry Hibner, author of “Centennial Revisited: An Oral History of the Epic TV Miniseries,” will sign books and answer questions at the Voices of Colorado book fair at 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 3909 E. 15th St., in Loveland, as part of a series of author events in Northern Colorado that weekend. More than a dozen authors are scheduled to attend the book fair.

Hibner also will discuss and sign books at 2:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the LINC Library Innovation Center, 501 Eighth Ave., in Greeley, and will sign books at Book Fest in Fort Collins on Saturday, April 18, after his appearance at Voices of Colorado.

Hibner’s first book contains more than 75 interviews with cast, crew, extras, locals, experts and fans.

“Centennial” was a best-selling novel by James A. Michener published in 1974. Four years later NBC aired the 12-episode, 26-hour miniseries. The first episode was watched by nearly 30 million households in the United States and it was the highest rated miniseries of 1978-79.

Earth Day Project

An Earth Day Volunteer Project will take place at noon-3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, High Plains Environmental Center, 2698 Bluestem Willow Drive.

Tasks may include trash cleanup, seeding, planting, filling pots in the nursery, and more. Dress for all weather. Bring a water bottle. Closed toed shoes are required.

Watercolor Workshop

Artist Erin Joy will lead a workshop on watercolor and floriography — the secret language of flowers, at 5-7 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Artworks Center For Contemporary Art, 310 N. Railroad Ave.

Stop by anytime during the third Saturday to learn more about capturing the meaning of flowers through watercolor. Joy is a Fort Collins-based naturalist illustrator whose work explores the textures of life through mimicking lithography with ink mark printmaking. Illustrations are then layered with watercolor and gouache to create vibrant contrasts and softness.

The workshop is completely free to the public, including all supplies.

Tech Talk

The monthly Tech Talk at the Loveland Public Library will focus on cyber security at 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 18.

The talk will be in the Gertrude Scott Room at the library, 300 N. Adams Ave.

Spring Craft Fair

The fourth annual Spring Craft Fair will be held at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Berthoud Recreation Center, 1000 Berthoud Parkway.

Browse items from 50-plus Colorado artisans from the Front Range and surrounding communities. Featured merchandise includes tumblers, woodworking, candles, body care, wreaths, jewelry, ceramics, framed art, apparel, needlework, gift baskets, and more. Food and coffee trucks will also be on-site.

Dogs and Deputies

Celebrate pets in the park at Dogs & Deputies at 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Fickel Park, 620 Mountain Ave.

The event will have opportunities for discounted pet licensing, pet adoption, training resources and demonstrations and low-cost rabies vaccines. The Berthoud Recreation Center will also be on hand with free puppy yoga and the chance to meet some of the retired K-9s from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

The day is for people who have a pet, want a pet, or just want to be around dogs and cats.

Earth Day

Fort Collins Earth Day will take place at 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Odell Brewing, 800 E. Lincoln Ave.

The event will include education, interactive experiences and opportunities for attendees to connect with local organizations doing vital work to protect our natural resources.

The free, family-friendly event includes a river clean-up at 9-11 a.m., kids activities, live music, food trucks and exhibitors.

New Horizons Band

Northern Colorado New Horizons Band will present a Spring Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St.

The band is under the direction of Glenn Shull with guest director, Bob Latchaw, who will conduct the band through two of his original compositions.

Palestine Celebration

A family-friendly celebration of the ancient and modern cultural treasures of Palestine will be held at 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart St.

Taste traditional culinary treats, learn about the rich history of Palestine and the challenges Palestinians are facing, hear their music, share in their dance, and explore a Bedouin tent and mini-museum featuring authentic artifacts and heritage clothing.

Courtyard Open House

A Courtyard Open House will be held at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Heritage Courtyard at the Center for Creativity at the Historic Carnegie Library, 200 Mathews St.

The event will highlight the 1905 Upper Boxelder Creek Schoolhouse with an interactive open house for all ages.

Try your hand at traditional 1900s games, explore the architecture and stories of the one-room school and participate in schoolhouse-themed activities and crafts.

Polar Plunge

Special Olympics Colorado will host a Polar Plunge and 5K Run/Walk at 8-11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. Fifth St.

Check-in opens at 8 a.m., the Run/Walk starts at 9 a.m. and the Polar Plunge is at 10 a.m.

At 10:30 a.m. After Splash Bash will be hosted at Peculier Ales, 301 Main St., Unit A.

The 5K cost is $45 per runner, and there is an $80 fundraising minimum per adult for the Polar Plunge.
