Lessons from Lutherie
The Berthoud Historical Society’s March Speaker Series event will focus on guitars at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Berthoud Recreation Center at Waggener Farm Park, 1000 Berthoud Parkway.
Guitarist and guitar repairman David Michael Boyd of Fort Collins will present “GuitART – Lessons from Lutherie,” an interactive lecture and concert that brings together the art of guitar restoration with the stories behind the instruments themselves.
Hear the “life stories” of eight different guitars, each carefully restored and returned to playing condition. Every instrument has its own voice, character and history, and the audience will even help determine the direction of the evening’s performance.
It’s part music, part storytelling, and part behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating craft of lutherie.
The program is free to attend. Donations will be accepted.
