A new dandelion sculpture now anchors the roundabout at Madison Avenue and 37th Street, signaling the completion of a major overhaul of one of Loveland’s busiest corridors.
Crews wrapped up the majority of work on the Madison Avenue Corridor Improvement Project last week, after a multi-phase effort to modernize infrastructure and improve mobility between 29th and 37th streets.
The project included construction of the roundabout at 37th Street, widening of Madison Avenue to add buffered bike lanes and a center turn lane, and upgrades to water, stormwater, electric and telecommunications systems. Crews also installed new sidewalks in select areas and completed final asphalt, striping and signage along the corridor.
While most of the work is finished, a few items remain. The sculpture, created through the city’s Art in Public Places program, is expected to be powered later this week following installation of an electric meter, with additional landscaping to follow.
Once Larimer County completes its Monroe Avenue bridge project, crews will return to make minor concrete repairs within the roundabout. That work will require a temporary closure lasting three to five days, with advance notice planned.
The project was funded primarily through capital expansion fees, which covered about 80% of costs, with the remaining 20% coming from the city’s general fund.
